| This beautiful bell was commissioned by the Washington National Cathedral, it’s card reads:
Comprising 53 bronze bells, Washington National Cathedral’s Kirbbey Carillon is the third heaviest in the world. Installed in 1963, the bells of the carillon were cast by the John Taylor Bellfoundry of Loughborough, England. The smallest bell weighs 17 pounds, the largest, the bourdon bell, weights 12 tons. Above the carillon resides a ten-bell peal. The Cathedral’s central Gloria in Excelsis tower is the only place in North America to house both peal and carillon bells. The design of this pendent was inspired by the smallest carillon bell, which is inscribed AMEN, AMEN.
This bell is only available through the Washington National Cathedral at www.cathedral.org or call 202-537-6267 for more information |
