Alice's story of what her bell means to her-

I am a cancer survivor who is learning to live with cancer. It was two and a half years after my last treatment for breast cancer that I was diagnosed with bone cancer. This was my fourth cancer diagnosis, thyroid cancer, melanoma, breast cancer...and now bone cancer. Not exactly what I had in mind for my retirement years, but a battle I can fight. I sing in our church choir and one of the choir members and his wife, Thom and Betty, sent me the Survivor's Bell when they heard about my bone cancer diagnosis. I was touched not only by their thoughtfulness and kindness, but, also by the lovely bell and its message. What an inspiration to keep up the "good fight," a reminder that I am a survivor! I wear it often and when I do I get so many compliments. It can be quite the conversation piece when sitting in the chemotherapy room with other survivors fighting cancer. (I like to think that everyone who is in treatment and living with cancer is a survivor just like those who are in remission.) I must admit that every time I hear the gentle ring of the bell, I smile to myself and think how another angel has received his/her wings just like in the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life."
